4 Blade FeatherStream Prop for Najad 391 Yacht

After consultation with Darglow we fitted a 4 Blade FeatherStream in preparation for leaving the UK in 2021 to sail the Med and beyond. Darglow were very helpful and efficient during the consultation process. The propeller was build in good time and I collected it from the factory as I lived nearby.

We fitted the 4 blade FeatherStream in April 2021 and have since sailed some 5600 nautical miles.

On fitting the 4B, after removing our fixed 3 blade propeller, the difference was incredible. The grip on the water was massively improved so the boat responded much better when close quarters handling.

Under sail the propeller feathers perfectly and performs faultlessly. Our gearbox manufacturer recommends leaving a fixed prop to freewheel so there was always some noise while sailing before the FeatherStream now there is perfect silence.

I cannot put figures on the performance increase under sail as I did not pay enough attention to our speeds prior to fitting it but I have no doubt that its perfectly feathered position gives us much improved sailing speed.

We are very happy with our FeatherStream and the support received from Darglow. The FeatherStream 4 blade prop is a thing of beauty when out of the water and clean and its always a shame to get it wet and mess it up again. However we have been lifted out twice since fitting and it has come up spotlessly shiny on both occasions.

Very happy with the 4B and looking forward to many more miles and years sailing with it.
